The waiting is finally over. The Ontario Summer Games are upon us and for the 4th time in their history, they are making a welcome return to London ON. Around 3500 of the province’s top youth athletes will compete in a 4-day celebration of Canadian sporting talent. Starting on Thursday, August 2nd.

Sport is an excellent way to keep fit and active, and with so many different sports on show, everyone can find one to suit them and their lifestyle. The excitement of a big sporting event can be enough to get even the most exercise-shy kids (and parents) enthused and lacing up their training shoes!

Celebrating all sports Canadian

The Ontario Summer Games is supported by the Ontario Government, through its Games Ontario program. Originating in 1970 as a showcase for amateur sport, the games have fast become Ontario’s largest multi-sport event, with a uniquely Canadian flavor. National favourites like field lacrosse, baseball and field hockey are sure to draw the crowds, just part of a program of 21 sports in 25 different venues across Ontario’s very own “sport city”. Games open to all

Thanks to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport and a huge range of sponsors, all events at the London 2018 Ontario Summer Games are free to attend. With no tickets required it’s a spectacle not to be missed and an opportunity to spot the Canadian sporting stars of the future.

Help for rising sports stars

For many participants, the Summer Games are the start of a major sporting career. Provincial level athletes from ages 12 to 18 qualify for the event through a rigorous regional selection process. For some, it is a stepping stone towards the Pan Am Games or even the Olympics.

Game ONThe Ontario Government’s Sports Plan was designed to support all of Ontario’s sporting events. It assists rising sports stars in their pursuit of excellence. whilst promoting increased tourism and economic development within the province. But perhaps most importantly, it encourages us all to take part in organized sports.
